19 kilometers of Vias Bravas

This project was born in 2014 thanks to the initiative of Miquel Sunyer, extreme long distance swimmer and ambassador of the Costa Brava, who together with TechnoJet Swim, a company specialized in technical swimming and water training equipment, decided to constitute ten itineraries along eight municipalities. Llançà, Roses, L’Escala, Palafrugell (Tamariu and Calella-Llafranc), Platja d’Aro, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Lloret de Mar were at that time the places chosen for the gestation of the nearly 14 kilometers of marked route.

This summer, no doubt thanks to the success achieved after the first year, the populations of Portbou, Colera, Cadaqués, Torroella de Montgrí – Estartit and Pals have been added to the itinerary network in a second phase that already has more than 19 kilometers of travel.

The entrance of the Natural Park of Montgrí, the Medes Islands and Bajo Ter in the Vía Brava of Torroella de Montgrí – L’Estartit; one of the most important marine flora and fauna reserves in the western Mediterranean.

Live the Costa Brava with children

These Vies Braves are the ideal excuse to make a trip to the Costa Brava all those lovers of nature and for those who like to swim, since in addition to discovering the natural wealth of the seabed you can do a sport as complete as swimming. But, this time, in a privileged environment.

The only requirements that we must take into account when it comes to safety are obviously knowing how to swim, and remember that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The Vies Braves do not have any lifeguard service, so we must swim under our responsibility and act responsibly with the environment and the other bathers. It is also possible to take into account aspects such as properly protecting yourself with sunscreen, using the appropriate equipment and hydrating before and after exercise.

Dynamization activities in les Vies Braves

With the aim of bringing the sea and its surroundings closer to the people in a safe way, in each one of the roads a host of dynamization activities are organized. Free and for all audiences, these sessions promote knowledge of the Costa Brava always promoting education and responsible attitudes towards its rich natural environment.

From the meetings to swim in a group, the introduction to swimming in open water or the practice of snorkeling (light immersion), all activities are aimed both for professional swimmers who want to train, as for amateurs or swimmers wanting to Discover the Costa Brava from another perspective.
